DePaul drops first match in Boise

BOISE, Idaho – After securing the doubles point, the Blue Demons couldn't carry that momentum into singles play as DePaul men's tennis fell 4-1 to Montana State on Friday afternoon at the Appleton Tennis Center.

The Blue Demons (3-10, 1-0 BIG EAST) opened the match with strong play in doubles, claiming the point with wins on courts two and three. Sebastian Medica and Augusto Pardo Cano earned a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Sven Moser and Thomas Giles followed with a 6-3 decision on court three to clinch the point. The top pairing of Alejandro Gandini and Pablo Torres Almeida was tied 5-5 when play was halted.

Montana State (4-7) answered in singles play, winning four courts to secure the team result. Augusto Pardo Cano fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles before the Bobcats added another straight-set win at the fifth position to take the lead.

At No. 2 singles, Pablo Torres Almeida dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision as Montana State extended its advantage. The match was clinched at the top spot where Yassin Elaroussy edged Alejandro Gandini in a tight three-set battle, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(6).

Two matches remained unfinished when play concluded. Sebastian Medica had forced a third set at No. 3 singles, while Andy Hadziabdic was also locked in a deciding set at the fourth position.
