No. 2 DePaul Takes on No. 7 Marquette in BIG EAST Quarterfinal

Blue Demons open BIG EAST Tournament Friday morning
CAYCE, S.C. – No. 2 seed DePaul men's tennis opens its postseason Friday morning with a BIG EAST Quarterfinal matchup against No. 7 Marquette at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C. First serve is set for 8 a.m. CT. Fans can follow live stats here.
The Blue Demons enter the tournament at 9-12 overall, highlighted by a perfect 6-0 mark in BIG EAST play and a 6-2 record at home. DePaul closed the regular season in dominant fashion, sweeping Creighton 7-0 to secure its best regular season conference finish in program history. Head coach Matt Brothers' squad carries momentum into Cayce with four-straight wins, all coming in league play against Georgetown, Villanova, Marquette and Creighton.
DePaul has relied on production at the top of the lineup in dual play this season. Sebastian Medica leads the team with 13 dual singles wins, primarily competing at No. 2, while Alejandro Gandini has posted 10 victories at the No. 1 position. Pablo Torres Almeida has secured key points at No. 2 and No. 3, providing consistency behind the top spot. In doubles, Torres Almeida and Gandini have controlled the No. 1 position, while Medica and Augusto Pardo Cano have picked up crucial wins at No. 2.

Marquette enters Friday's quarterfinal at 4-17 overall after finishing seventh in the conference standings.
The two sides met just five days ago in Chicago, where DePaul earned a 5-2 victory in a match that stretched nearly four hours. After dropping the doubles point, the Blue Demons responded with five singles wins, including straight-set victories from Medica and Gandini. DePaul has won three-straight matches against Marquette and will look to carry that into postseason play.
