Blue Demons carry momentum through the weekend with historic performances Friday
DES MOINES, Iowa – The Blue Demons track and field team continued their stay in Des Moines with a number of historic outputs Friday afternoon. The team tallied four top three performances in a day featuring relays, sprints, and field events.
The women's 4x100m relay squad featuring Sade Miller, Claire Dunn, Nevaeh Lowe, and Helen Baumgarten headlined the Blue Demons on the track, setting a program record with 45.17. This time reset the previous mark of 45.40, set by a relay group featuring Jetta Mays and Maia Mays alongside Miller and Lowe in 2025.
John Bush, Mohamed Abdullahi, Nick Quinn and Owen Larkins followed suit in the men's 4x800m, running a time of 7:27.13 and crushing a program record set in 2013 by over five seconds.
In the field, graduate Isaiah Hopf led the way, earning DePaul's first gold of the weekend with a 15.13m performance in the men's triple jump. His younger sister, Jaiah Hopf, ensured the triple jump dominance stayed within the family, as she jumped a distance of 12.71m, enough to secure first place.
Freshman hurdles specialist Aisha Kazeem set a new career best in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.09, rounding out another solid day of building momentum.
In Thursday's competitions, Blue Demons heptathlon duo Ashleigh McArdle and Aubrey Phillips recorded first and second respectively in the event's javelin section prior to ultimately finishing with a DNF.
