Kazeem Breaks 38 Year Record in Strong Day for DePaul

Blue Demons open final regular season weekend of action
WISCONSIN/ILLINOIS – DePaul track and field competed at the Gary Wieneke Memorial and Badger Challenge on Friday, led by Aisha Kazeem's school-record run in the 400m hurdles and multiple event victories at both sites.
At Illinois, the Blue Demons found success in the field events on both sides. Isaiah Hopf led the way with a triple jump title at 14.55m, pacing a one-two finish alongside Joshua Hill. On the women's side, Aubrey Phillips placed third in the javelin, Katelyn Welsh cleared 3.67m in the pole vault, and Eveline Reno added a 12.47m mark in the triple jump.
On the track in Champaign, DePaul turned in one of its strongest showings of the season. Kazeem delivered the top performance, breaking a 38-year-old school record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.33 to become the first Blue Demon under the one-minute barrier. The Blue Demons also controlled the women's 200m, with Sade Miller winning in 23.95 and Claire Dunn close behind in 24.08. On the men's side, Harper Bryan posted a personal-best 54.01 in the 400m hurdles, while Tyce Smith added a third-place finish in the 200m.
In Madison, DePaul's field group continued its momentum with another title performance. Alex Bernstein claimed the hammer throw crown with a mark of 67.93m, while Elena Opp placed third in the same event. Jaiden Gary added a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 17.26m.
The track events at Wisconsin produced multiple strong finishes on both squads. John Bush led the men's side with a win in the 800m in 1:49.53, marking the second-fastest time in program history, while Jayvion Cunningham finished second in the 200m after placing among the leaders in the 100m. Amy Carhee led the women with a victory in the 100m hurdles in 13.96, and Isabella Orozco placed second in the 800m to close the day.
