Blue Demons improve seven spots from qualifying position
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – DePaul turned in another strong performance at the NCAA West First Rounds on Friday night, as the men's 4x400m relay broke the school record and climbed seven spots in the regional standings.
Entering the meet as the No. 24 and final qualifying relay team in the West Region, the youthful Blue Demon quartet of sophomore Tyce Smith, freshmen Denhm Holt and Christian Ortiz-Velazquez, and junior Daniel Fasasi delivered a school-record 3:06.53 to place fifth in their heat and finish 17th overall in the West Region.
The quartet arrived in Fayetteville fresh off a BIG EAST title and school-record performance in Storrs and once again delivered against the nation's top competition, lowering the program mark for the second-consecutive meet. Fasasi anchored the effort with a blazing 45.80 split, powering the Blue Demons through the final lap and sealing the record-setting performance at John McDonnell Field.
