Michael Schachner joined the staff as an assistant coach in January 2020 and is a Chicagoland native who was a two-time All-American at Duke before an 11-year professional career around the world.
The 2021-22 campaign saw four different players post individual top 25 finishes during the season while the Blue Demons top team finish was a fourth-place showing at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational. In 2020-21, the Blue Demons claimed the team title at the Alabama A&M Golf Classic and finished the season with three individuals in the top 16 at the BIG EAST Championship. Conor Glennon was tied for 10th, Nik Gatmaytan was in a group in 13th place and Artemiy Yalovenko finished in 16th place. The shortened 2019-20 season saw the Blue Demons open the spring schedule by placing third in the eight-team Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play. The Blue Demons knocked off host Ball State in the match before falling to Eastern Michigan. In the third-place match, DePaul posted an impressive 4.5-1.5 win over Dayton.

Following a standout career at Duke from 2004-08, Schachner played around the world as a professional. He played in tournaments on the PGA Tour, European Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Canada and PGA Tour Latinoaerica.
In addition to competing professionally, Schachner works as a teaching assistant at the Dr. Jim Suttie Golf Academy since 2011.

With the Blue Devils, he was named a GCAA All-American in 2005 and 2007 and a Golfweek All-American in 2008. As a junior in 2007, he carded a NCAA-record round of 60 in the third round of the NCAA Championship at the Golden Horseshoe GC in Williamsburg, Va. Schachner was also a member of the 2005 ACC Championship team and won two events during his senior season.
