Chery in Top-3 After Day One at Dayton Flyer Invitational

KETTERING, OHIO – DePaul golf freshman North Chery had a career day Monday at the Dayton Flyer Invitational as he sits in the top-three entering the clubhouse after day one. Chery recorded a personal-best 67 (-4) in the first round, followed by a 70 (-1) in the second round to bring his total on the day to 137 (-5). He enters Tuesday's final round four strokes behind the leader, Derek Tabor from Butler.

Chery tees off first for DePaul tomorrow at 7:45 a.m. CT in the third and final round of the event.

As a team, DePaul sits in 8th with a team score of 587 (+19). A pair of Blue Demons – Sam Mortell and Billy Gnesier - sit in a tie for 37th at seven over-par. Gneiser, making his season-debut, had 74 (+3) in the first round while Mortell closed out the day with a strong 73 (+2) in the second 18 of the day.

Rohan Gopaldas is in 60th after a 154 (+12) on the day and is followed by Dominic Lucchesi in a tie for 64th at 155 (+13). Austin Scott, competing as an individual, is also tied with Lucchesi in 64^th.
