2018-19 (Sophomore)

Indoor:

Competed in eight meets
Had four podium finishes in weight throw and discus competitions
Set a career-best distance of 18.41 meters in the weight throw at the Meyo Invitational (2/1) to earn 5^th place
Set a career-best in the shot put with a 13.71-meter performance in the shot put competition at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships (2/22) to claim 4^th place.

Outdoor:

Set program record in hammer throw with a distance of 61.85 meters at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational (4/27) to claim third place
Took home gold at DePaul Invitational (4/20) in the hammer with a 57.78-meter throw. Earned second place in discus at the DePaul Invite (4/20) and the Huskie Classic (5/3) with throws of 37.75 meters and 42.15 meters, respectively
Competed at the NCAA West Preliminaries in the hammer throw and placed 37^th with a disancee of 56.09 meters.

2017-18 (Freshman)

Indoor:

Competed in six meets
Placed 5^th at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships (2/24) with a 12.99-meter throw in the shot put
Earned a spot on the podium twice in the weight throw, claiming 3^rd at the Blue & Gold Invite (12/1) with a distance of 12.50 meters and at the Alex Wilson Invitational 2/17) where Gates claimed 2^nd with a distance of 16.21 meters.

Outdoor:

Competed in four events – discus, shot put, hammer and javelin
Earned 11 podium-finishes across the events
First place finishes came in hammer and javelin competitions
Placed first in hammer at Illinois Twilight (4/14) with a distance of 50.52 meters, the DePaul Invitational (4/21) garnering 54.45 meters, the Huskie Classic (5/4) throwing a 49.82 distance and earned gold at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships (5/11) with a then-career-best 53.73 meters.

In Javelin, Gates secured wins in the UNF Spring Break Invitational (3/23) with a throw of 45.46 meters, Illinois Twilight (4/14) with 47.43 meters and the DePaul Invitational (4/21) with a 43.35-meter throw
Placed second in javelin at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships (5/11) with a 44.42-meter distance. Competed at NCAA West Preliminaries (5/26) in Javelin
Placed 21^st with a throw of 46.17 meters.
