Ashton Millender enters her fourth season on the DePaul women’s basketball staff in 2026-27. Millender was first named an assistant coach on May 31, 2023, and was retained by head coach Jill M. Pizzotti in May 2025 as assistant coach and director of player development.
Millender was named a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 honoree in both 2024 and 2025. The program recognizes 30 up-and-coming coaches aged 30 and under at all levels of the game.
In 2025-26, Millender helped junior guard Kate Novik earn All-BIG EAST Second Team honors as Novik led the Blue Demons with 12.2 points per game. She also aided the development of redshirt freshman guard Ally Timm, who shot 34 percent from 3-point range and posted three 20-point games.
In 2024-25, Millender mentored a young guard group and helped newcomer Taylor Johnson-Matthews earn All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention honors. Johnson-Matthews averaged 14.5 points per game, second on the team, and scored in double figures 24 times, including eight games of 20 or more points. She shot 38 percent from 3-point range.
In 2023-24, Millender helped graduate guard Anaya Peoples earn All-BIG EAST Second Team honors after Peoples led the Blue Demons in both scoring and rebounding. Peoples averaged 17.2 points per game, ranked in the BIG EAST top 10 in four statistical categories and scored in double figures in 26 of 31 games.
A standout for the Blue Demons from 2014-19, Millender helped lead DePaul to five NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 run, and four BIG EAST Tournament titles. She appeared in a program-record 144 games with 77 starts. Her 286 career 3-pointers rank second in program history, and her 1,392 career points rank 25th.
After graduating, Millender played professionally in five countries: Australia, Finland, Mexico, Nicaragua and Portugal. She helped Real Estelí to a pair of championships. During her playing career, she also returned to Chicago in the offseason to coach at the Doug Bruno Basketball Camp.
A native of Glenwood, Ill., Millender earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a concentration in health and a minor in communication from DePaul. She is pursuing a master’s degree in sport, fitness and recreation leadership in DePaul’s College of Education.
