Lauren Prochaska joined the women’s basketball staff as Director of Community, Corporate and Professional Relations in August of 2018.
Prochaska was a four-year player for coach Doug Bruno’s elite program, finishing her career in 2017-18.
The steady point guard played in four consecutive NCAA tournaments including a pair of Sweet 16s. She helped the Blue Demons capture four-straight BIG EAST regular-season titles and two BIG EAST tournament championships.
She was a top-notch scholar as well, graduating in June with a degree in Health Sciences and a 3.847 grade-point average. In March of 2018, Prochaska received the BIG EAST Sportsmanship Award.
Prochaska was an invaluable role player throughout her career, excelling in floor play and defense. As a junior, she moved into the starting role when Honorable Mention All-American point guard Jessica January was sidelined two months by a hand injury.
Guiding the team with a steady hand through the challenging BIG EAST season, Prochaska finished No. 3 in the BIG EAST in assist-turnover ratio and No. 8 in the conference in total assists. She had one or zero turnovers in 10 of 16 BIG EAST games and wound up No. 31 in the nation in assist-turnover ratio.
“Moving as a player to a coaching staff as a young person means a different role than player to player,” said Blue Demon coach Doug Bruno. “Having been a teammate of many student-athletes on the current team, adjusting from player to staff member requires an intelligence and wisdom---both of which Lauren possesses.
“Lauren is very smart, efficient, organized, hard-working and has long held a desire to get into intercollegiate athletics administration. This position is a perfect match for her organizational skill set.”
