Men's Soccer Falls In Double Overtime

After tying the match twice in the second half, the DePaul Blue Demons lost in double overtime, 4-3, to the visiting Marquette Golden Eagles. Marquette's Sean Reti scored the "golden goal" with just 34 seconds remaining in the match.
The Golden Eagles got on the scoreboard first when Andy Hunter headed in a cross from Sean Reti at 7:47. Mike Adrian scored Marquette's second goal in the 35th minute when he pushed the ball past DePaul goalkeeper Jash Chavero in front of the net.
Chris Greer scored the first of his two goals at 43:29 to make the score 2-1. On the goal, Dimitri Rousseau served a pass into the right side of the box and Greer sent it to the back of the net.
Travis Brown followed Greer with a score in the 59th minute to even the match at 2-2. Senior Sean Fitzpatrick was credited with his fifth assist of the season on the goal. However, the tie didn't last long as Marquette's Mike Robards scored the Golden Eagles' third goal 34 seconds later.
In the 85th minute, Greer tallied his second goal of the match to even the game at 3-3. He finishied the season scoring a pair of goals in the final two matches.
With the score knotted, 3-3, at the end of 90 minutes, the match went into overtime with the "golden goal" being the winner. Both teams battled back and forth as Marquette's Tony Walby knocked a shot off the post and Greer hit the crossbar for DePaul in the extra time.
The tie was finally broke at 119:26 when Reti broke free off a pass from Marshall Morehead for the game winner.
With the loss, the Blue Demons ended the season 1-16 overall and 0-8 in Conference USA play. Marquette's final record was 10-7-2 overall and 2-6 in league matches.
