Blue Demons Fall at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Three second half goals was too much as the women's soccer team lost at No. 15 Charlotte, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon. The loss was the second straight for the Blue Demons as they dropped to 7-6-0 overall and 2-4-0 in Conference USA play. Charlotte improved to 11-0-1 and 5-0-1.
Charlotte scored their lone first-half goal in the 32nd minute as Lindsey Palmiero got past DePaul keeper Lindsey Deason. In the second half, the 49ers struck three times in just over 15 minutes on goals by Jill Hayes, Lindsay Duncan and Courtney Crandell.
In the match, DePaul was outshot by Charlotte, 12-8, while Deason made four saves. Megan Pekala played the final 18 minutes in goal for DePaul and recorded one save.
Up next for the Blue Demons is their final home weekend of the 2002 regular season. DePaul hosts Louisville on Friday at 3 p.m. Sunday will be Senior Day when the Blue Demons take on the Cincinnati Bearcats. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at Wish Field.
