MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The DePaul women’s soccer team closed the regular season with a 3-0 loss at Marquette on Saturday night. With the defeat, the Blue Demons dropped to 10-8-1 overall and 3-6-1 in Conference USA play while the Golden Eagles improved to 11-6-3 and 5-3-2.
Marquette scored twice in the first 25 minutes of the match to take a 2-0 lead at halftime. Kate Gordon scored the first of her two goal in the game at 13:29 and was followed by Heather Goranson at 23:15.
Gordon struck again midway through the second half as she notched her 10th goal of the season in the 64th minute.
“The girls played well today. We put together a good second half,” said head coach John Wilson. “The story of the game is the story of our season. We had a couple of defensive breakdowns and they made some great finishes. I’m proud of the girls, we played a hard 90 minutes. Ten wins this season is a great step forward for this program and we are already looking forward to next season.”
The Blue Demons end the season with the most wins, shutouts and goals scored for a single-season.
