Runnels, Moffett Lead Blue Demons at Iowa State Classic

Ames, Iowa -- The DePaul men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Iowa State Track & Field Classic this past weekend. Combined the two teams produced season best marks in nine events.
Diana Runnels, Erin Moffett and Montia Gardner recorded season bests on the women's side while Larry Inanga, Mike Scafide, Kai Murray, Chris Birchall and Frank Guzman posted season bests on the men's side.
Runnels recorded season best times in the 200 meter (25.85) and the 400 meter (57.32). In the 400 meter, she finished 15th out of 60 runners. Moffett finished 13th out of 55 runners with a time of 10:00.85 in the 3000 meter. In the weight throw, Montia Gardner recorded a throw of 16.31m marking her best throw of the season.
Inanga posted a time of 49.83 in the 400 meter, Scafide ran a 1:13.52 600 meter and Murray finshed with a 1:52.31 in the 800 meter. In addition to finishing the 3000 meter with a season best time of 8:19.69, Birchall finished 24th out of 106 runners at the event. Guzman's throw of 17.92m in the shot put was good enough for a third place finish.
The Blue Demons are next in action when they participate in the Chicagoland Championships Saturday.
