Moffett, Gardner Lead Blue Demons at Conference Championships

Bloomington, Ind.--The women’s indoor track and field squad competed at the Conference USA Championships this weekend. DePaul came in 12th place with 16.5 points.
Sophomore Erin Moffett had a huge weekend leading the Blue Demons. She finished sixth in the 3000 meter with a time of 9:55.13 and third in the 5000 meter with a 17:19.26. Moffett was also part of the Blue Demons distance medley team which came in eighth place. Junior Jessica Karlin, sophomore Leah Rygh and freshman Marissa Petersen rounded out the team with Moffett. Freshman Marlene Key finished the 5000 meter with a 17:57.97 good for ninth place.
In the field events, senior Montia Gardner finished seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 50’01.25. Junior Megan Greely finished 13th in the event with a throw of 45’10.75. In the high jump, junior Katie Sullivan finished fourth with a 5’06.00. The jump matched her own school record she set last week at the Chicagoland Championships.
