Track & Field Finishes Fifth at C-USA Championships

In the men’s field events, senior Carey Ryan led the Blue Demons setting a C-USA record with a mark of 68’04.25 for first place honors in the men’s weight throw. Junior Jarrod Jahnke finished fourth with a throw of 51’08.50. In the shot put, senior Frank Guzman was victorious with a NCAA provisional throw of 57’05.75 while freshman Dan Sloan matched his season-high mark of 6’02.75 good for seventh place in the high jump.
On the track, senior Chris Birchall placed second in the 3000 meter with a time of 8:20.00 and second in the 5000 meter with a time of 14:33.24. Junior Kai Murray finished fourth in the 800 meter with a 1:55.50 mark while junior Luis Samayoa was seventh in the mile run (4:20.71) and ninth in the 3000 meter (8:44.26). Junior Larry Vonckx finished the 5000 meter with a time of 15:16.90, good for sixth place.
