FAYATTEVILLE, Ark. – DePaul’s Carey Ryan finished third in the 35-pound weight throw at the annual NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
Ryan, a senior from Bolingbrook, Ill., took third with a toss of 22.02 meters to earn All-American honors. Last spring, Ryan took sixth in the hammer throw at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Ryan’s finish gave the Blue Demons six team points in the overall standings.
This is the fourth time a DePaul men’s track and field athlete has earned All-American honors and Ryan is the second highest place-winner ever. Dave Dopek won the 1995 NCAA Indoor title in the 200 meters and finished second in the same event during the outdoor season.
