Women Place Third, Men Seventh at Elmhurst Intercollegiates

ELMHURST, Ill. – Kristil Nicholas and Susan Stoffel won their respective events to lead the women’s track and field team to a third-place finish at the Elmhurst Intercollegiate Invitational on Saturday afternoon. On the men’s side, Donnie Warner won the 1,500-meter run while the Blue Demons finished seventh out of 13 teams.
Nicholas won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.87 and placed fourth in the 200-meter dash at 26.92. Stoffel won the discus competition with a toss of 37.62 meters while Katie Sullivan took second in the high jump at 5’2.5”.
Dee Moore finished the day with a pair of second-place finishes in the 100 and 200-meter events. She was second to Nicholas in the 100 at 12.97 and ran a 26.92 in the 200-meter dash. Marissa Peterson also placed second with a time of 1:00.99 in the 400-meter dash as did Leah Rygh in the 1,500-meter run at 4:53.43. The 3,000-meter run saw Lynsey Psimas, Jesica Karlin and Marlene Key place second, third and fourth.
Warner was the men’s top finisher by winning the 1,500-meter run in 4:06.92. Rick Britton was second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:59.24 and Mike Scafide took fourth place with at time of 1:58.14 in the 800-meter run.
