Runnels and Nicholas Lead Blue Demons at Big Blue Classic

CHARLESTON, Ill. -Â The outdoor track and field team placed fifth at Eastern Illinois' Big Blue Classic last weekend. Diana Runnels led DePaul with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash while Kristil Nicholas was third in the 100-meter dash.
Runnels ran a season-best 25.57 in the 200, finishing behind Illinois State's LaToya Jagoe who won the event in 25.41. Nicholas won her preliminary heat in the 100 before finishing third in the finals with a time of 12.85.
Dee Moore followed Nicholas in the 100 with a fifth-place time of 12.94 while Jessica Karlin's time of 4:49.97 put her fifth in the 1,500-meter run. Megan Greeley took a pair of fourth-place finishes in the hammer throw and javelin as did Montia Gardner in the discus throw and Katie Sullivan in the high jump.
Up next for DePaul is the Kansas Relays. The Blue Demons travel to Lawrence for the three-day meet on April 18-20.
