FT. WAYNE, Ind. - Four players scored five goals for DePaul as they beat IPFW, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon. Christy Young scored twice while goalkeeper Erica Keppel earned the shutout in her first game for the Blue Demons. The victory evened DePaul's record at 1-1.
DePaul started quickly as they scored three goals in the first 20 minutes. Julianne Sitch found Krissy Seberhagen in the 15th minute for the game's first goal. Seberhagen was followed by two scores from Young at 17:41 and 19:14.
Just over five minutes into the second half, Margo Sackmaster beat IPFW keeper Rachel Poor to make the score 4-0. The score remained there until Sitch scored the final goal of the day at 76:17.
For the match, the Blue Demons outshot the Mastodons, 18-11, including a 12-5 advantage in the first half. Keppel made four saves in her 90 minutes of play.
Up next for DePaul is a Friday afternoon match at Indiana State. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. in Terre Haute. On. Sept. 8, the Blue Demons will host the Alumni game and the home opener is set for Sept. 13 against Drury.
