CHICAGO - A pair of first-half goals by Ogonnaya Dotson-Newman put the Blue Demons past the visiting Drury Panthers, 4-0, on Friday afternoon at Wish Field. Krissy Seberhagen added a goal and as assist as DePaul improved to 3-1-0 on the season.
Seberhagen didn't waste any time as she scored the match's first goal in the sixth minute. She intercepted a Panther pass and found the back of the net for the eventual game-winner. Just two minutes later, Dotson-Newman scored her second goal of the season on a tap in from a pass by Julianne Sitch.
The score remained at 2-0 until Dotson-Newman struck again. This time, Seberhagen found Dotson-Newman who beat Drury keeper Jen Grib at 27:08 to score the first half's final goal.
DePaul started the second half much like the first as freshman Bren Sugarman knocked in a shot from 10 yards to tally the game's final score at 47:34. Margo Sackmaster was credited with the assist on a cross from the right side.
The Blue Demons controlled much of the match as they outshot the Panthers, 17-8. Goalkeepers Erica Keppel and Megan Pekala combined for the shutout as they made three saves.
DePaul wraps up the home-opening weekend with a Sunday afternoon match against Idaho. Kickoff for the Blue Demons and Vandals is set for 1 p.m. at Wish Field.
