CHICAGO - The DePaul women's soccer team dropped their second straight Conference USA match with a 1-0 loss to the visiting Houston Cougars. The defeat dropped DePaul's record to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in C-USA play.
The two teams played to a standoff after the first 45 minutes. The Blue Demons had opportunities as they outshot the Cougars, 8-3, in the first stanza.
In the 55th minute, Leslie Guevara scored the match's only goal with a drive from the left side that got past DePaul goalkeeper Lindsey Deason. Deason finished the game with five saves while facing eight Houston shots.
Late in the match, the Blue Demons threatened, but were unable to find the net. DePaul will come back for a Sunday afternoon match against the Tulane Green Wave. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Wish Field.
