Track and Field Splits Up This Weekend

CHICAGO – The DePaul track and field teams will participate in two meets this weekend with a group of athletes traveling to the Kansas Relays for three days and a group at the Elmhurst Invitational on Saturday.
As many as 75 schools will be represented at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence this weekend. A total of 15 student-athletes will represent DePaul at the three-day meet. Throwers Megan Greeley, Jarrod Jahnke and Susan Stoffel will be joined by runners Armando Aguirre, Ben Cooke, Larry Inanga, Will Lazicki, Dee Moore, Siddiqu Muhammad, Kai Murray, Kristil Nicholas, Diana Runnels, Leah Rygh, Luis Samayoa and Michael Scafide.

Thursday, April 17
10:30 a.m. – Susan Stoffel in the women’s hammer throw.
4:15 p.m. – Armando Aguirre in the men’s 800-meter run.
4:30 p.m. – Jarrod Jahnke in the men’s hammer throw.
6:20 p.m. – Luis Samayoa in the men’ 5,000-meter run.
Friday, April 18
Noon – Siddiqu Muhammad in the men’s 400-meter hurdle prelims.
2:00 p.m. – Megan Greeley in the women’s javelin throw.
3:10 p.m. – Diana Runnels in the women’s 400-meter dash.
3:30 p.m. – Larry Inanga in the men’s 400-meter dash.
Saturday, April 19
11:00 a.m. – Dee Moore, Kristil Nicholas, Diana Runnels and Leah Rygh in the women’s sprint medley relay.
2:00 p.m. – Kai Murray, Will Lazicki, Ben Cooke and Armando Aguirre in the men’s 4x880-yd. relay.
On Saturday in Elmhurst, 10 members of the track and field team will participate in the Elmhurst Invitational. Rashard Deleston, Eric Harlan, Webster Jones, Tom Kacprzynski, Shelley Knight, Trina Knight, Mitch Melton, Jeff Perkins and Cornelius Sams will run for DePaul while Michael Horrigan will compete in the shot put and discus.
Saturday, April 19
10:00 a.m. – Michael Horrigan in the men’s shot put.
11:00 a.m. – Corelious Sams in the men’s 110-meter hurdle prelims.
11:30 a.m. – Eric Harlan in the men’s 100-meter dash prelims.
Noon – Rashard Deleston in the men’s long jump, Webster Jones in the men’s triple jump and Michael in the men’s discus throw.
2:10 p.m. – men’s 110-meter hurdle finals.
2:20 p.m. – Shelley Knight in the women’s 400-meter dash.
3:00 p.m. – men’s 100-meter finals.
4:10 p.m. – Trina Knight in the women’s 200-meter dash and Rashard Deleston, Tom Kacprzynski, Mitch Melton and Jeff Perkins in the men’s 200-meter dash.
Last weekend at the Lee Calhoun Memorial Invitational, Leah Rygh set a new school record in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:33.75. Others with outstanding performances included Erin Moffett and Megan Greeley, who qualified for the NCAA Regional in May. Moffett automatically qualified in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:33.05 while Greeley earned her spot with a distance of 42.65 meters in the javelin throw. The NCAA Mideast Regional will be May 30-31 in Columbus, Ohio.
