Jahnke Wraps Up Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA – Jarrod Jahnke placed eighth in the collegiate hammer throw to complete all of the action for the DePaul contingent at the 109th Penn Relays. On Thursday, Megan Greeley was fourth in the javelin and Erin Moffett finished fifth in the 10,000-meter run.
Jahnke’s distance of 55.71 meters put him eighth out of 26 student-athletes in the collegiate competition. Saturday’s mark was a season-best for the senior.
On Thursday, Greeley’s season-best distance of 44.84 meters just missed her own school record of 44.91 meters set in 2001. The senior finished fourth out of 29 competitors.
Moffett provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with a time of 35:00.47 in the women’s 10,000-meter run. She placed fifth out of 29 runners. Moffett holds DePaul’s school record in the event with a time of 34:29.41 set last season.
On the men’s side, Luis Samayoa competed in the men’s 10,000-meter run Thursday night. He finished 28th with a time of 31:23.58. Former DePaul runner and current assistant coach Chris Birchall ran the 10,000 meters in the Olympic Development division. He took third place with a time of 29:27.94.
