Blue Demons Compete at Boilermaker Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Sprinter Larry Inanga and thrower Susan Stoffel led the DePaul track and field teams with a pair of top five finishes at Purdue’s Boilermaker Invitational this weekend. Inanga won the 100 and 200-meter dashes while Stoffel placed third in the hammer throw and fifth in the discus throw.
In the 100-meter dash Inanga reeled off a winning time of 10.88 seconds. That is the second-best time by a DePaul sprinter this season. He came back and improved his own season-best time with a 21.58 first-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Cornelius Sams finished fifth in the 200 with a time of 22.02.
Stoffel was third in the hammer throw with a season-best distance of 48.13 meters. She followed that performance with a toss of 40.28 meters in the discus to place fifth. The discus distanced was also the top mark this season.
Rashard Deleston took third in the long jump while Tom Kacprzynski placed fourth in the 400-meter dash. Deleston registered a personal-best distance of 6.89 meters while Kacprzynski finished in 50.01. The men’s 1500-meter run had a DePaul flavor as two Blue Demons finished in the top five. Donnie Warner edged out teammate Rick Britton for fourth place. Warner’s time of 3:58.52 put him in fourth while Britton was fifth in 3:58.64.
The women’s 4x100-meter relay took second and Diana Runnels notched a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Runnels’ time of 25.17 bettered her own season-best mark of 25.27.
Next weekend, DePaul will be in action on Saturday at the Central Collegiate Conference Championships.
