Women's Track Wins Chicagoland Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The DePaul women's track and field team opened the 2003 outdoor season in grand fashion by winning the 19-team Chicagoland Invitational this weekend. The Blue Demons took first place in six events with Diana Runnels and Leah Rygh winning two events apiece.
Runnels won the 200 and 400-meter dash events while Rygh took first place in the 800 and 1,500-meter events. Runnels posted a time of 25.37 in the 200 while running the 400 in 56.95. Rygh followed with a time of 2:18.11 in the 800 and a first-place time of 4:49.08 in the 1,500.
Susan Stoffel won the hammer throw competition with a distance of 45.52 meters. She also placed second in the discus with a mark of 40.14 meters. Megan Greeley's distance of 41.22 meters in the javelin put her in first place for the Blue Demons.
Kristil Nicholas place second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.70 while Jeana LeRoy was second in the shot put with a distance of 11.75 meters. Erin Moffet tallied a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at 17:25.70.
The Blue Demons won the team title with a total of 124 points. They were followed by Northern Illinois with 117.5 points and Carthage College with 86.5 points.
