GREENVILLE, N.C. – The DePaul women’s soccer team lost their third straight road match, 4-0, at East Carolina on Friday afternoon. The Pirates scored two goals in each half, but outshot DePaul just 16-14 in the match.
The Pirates packed things in defensively and countered multiple attacks by DePaul. Off the counterattacks, East Carolina (3-6-1, 1-1-0 C-USA) was able to score four times. Meghan McCallion scored the first three goals for the Pirates followed by Sarah Stoltz in the 83rd minute.
McCallion struck twice in a span of just over six minutes as the Pirates counterattacked all afternoon against the Blue Demons. She scored the first goal at 19:23 and followed that with another score at 25:42.
DePaul (5-6-0, 1-3-0 C-USA) was outshot only 6-5 in the first period and 16-14 in the match. The Blue Demons also held a 4-3 advantage on corner kicks. Lauren Spacht led the Blue Demons with five shots and banged a shot off the crossbar, but the officials ruled that it didn’t carry into the goal.
