Blue Demons Drop Cleveland State

CHICAGO – With two goals in each half and their third straight shutout, the DePaul women's soccer team knocked off Cleveland State, 4-0, on Friday afternoon. Four different players scored while Lea Hill and Erin Walter collected two assists each as the Blue Demons won for the third straight time.
DePaul (9-7-1) scored the first two goals in a span of 16 seconds in the first half. Hill scored the eventual game-winner at 16:20 when she broke free for a 30-yard run and scored past Cleveland State's Ashley Kidwell. At 16:36, it was Jennifer Dyer off passes from Walter and Hill to put the Blue Demons up, 2-0.
The two goals broke a DePaul record set earlier this season with two scores in a span of 21 seconds against Liberty on Sept. 5.
The Blue Demons were the offensive all afternoon as they outshot Cleveland State (0-16-0), 26-3, in the match and, 14-0, in the first half.
Kelly Lord scored her fourth goal of the season in the 60th minute off passes from Walter and Hill before Margo Sackmaster closed the scoring for the afternoon at 70:41. Stefanie Foley found Sackmaster with a pass from the right sideline and she dribbled 20 yards to beat Kidwell to the back of the net.
The Blue Demons close the home portion of the regular-season schedule on Sunday afternoon against Indiana. With the final home match, DePaul's seniors will be honored before the 1 p.m. kickoff.
