LOUISVILLE, Ky. - DePaul's Erin Moffett continued her strong outdoor season with the Conference USA title in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday night. In less than ideal conditions, Moffett won the event on the second day of the league meet. The Blue Demons stand in seventh place heading into the final day of competition.
Moffett won the event in 10:48.95. She finished ahead of Charlotte's Tsehaye Dagnachew, who finished in 10:52.45. Marlene Key also placed for the Blue Demons as she finished seventh in a season-best 11:20.86.
The Blue Demons qualified two student-athletes for Saturday's finals. Leah Rygh was DePaul's top qualifier with a seventh-place finish in the 1,500 meters. Rygh moves on to the Saturday final after running a 4:41.46 on Friday. Diana Runnels finished ninth to qualify in the 400-meter dash. She posted a time of 56.16 to advance to the championship heat.
DePaul sits in seventh place heading into the final day of action. Rain caused a 51-minute delay during the evening session on Friday moving the men's long jump, women's pole vault and the high jump to Saturday morning. USF leads the team standings with 38 points followed closely by Houston with 35 points and Tulane with 34 points.
