DePaul Loses on the Road

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After not allowing more than two goals in the first 10 matches of the season, the DePaul men’s soccer team was on the wrong end of a 4-0 score Wednesday night against Saint Louis. The Billikens opened up the game midway through the first half with two goals in just over four minutes.
Ryan Wileman scored the first of his two goals in the 23rd minute for the eventual game-winner. Saint Louis (4-3-1, 2-0-1 C-USA) put the pressure on from the start and John DiRaimondo found Wileman and he fired a shot to the left post past DePaul keeper Michael Timlin at 22:29.
At 26:46, Danny Wynn upped the advantage to 2-0 when he stole a Blue Demon pass, got past a pair of defenders and scored from eight yards away. Saint Louis’ third goal of the first half came when preseason Co-Conference USA Player of the Year Will John stole another DePaul pass and scored from 20 yards out in the 38th minute.
The final Billiken goal came at 79:05 when Wileman found the back of the net again off a free kick and passes from Brett Branan and Wynn.
Timlin finished the match with seven saves while the Blue Demon defense was also credited with two saves. Saint Louis outshot DePaul (2-7-2 overall, 0-2-0 C-USA), 19-6, and had a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
DePaul travels to East Carolina this weekend for a Sunday morning match. The Blue Demons and Pirates kick off at Bunting Field at 10:30 a.m. EST.
