Blue Demon Women Take Second at Chicagoland Championships

The Blue Demons finished the competition with 117 points behind the efforts of four first place finishes and three second place nods.
Marissa Petersen won the 400 meter dash in a time of 58.08. Carrie Moffett battled in the 5000 meter run to win in 17:31.64.
Marlene Key crushed the competition in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a winning time of 11:11.37, nearly 33 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Kayla Burks topped the high jump for the third time this season, springing 1.65m (5’5.00”) into first place.
Lindsey Deason was impressive in the heptathlon, totaling 4018 points to take second place.
The 4x100 meter relay team posted a second place finish as well. Mary Hodges, La Shunta Sanders, Erica Scott, and Marissa Petersen combined for a time of 48.84.
Jamie Holifield launched a 50.02m (164’01”) toss in the hammer throw to grab the second spot in the event.
The Blue Demons will prepare for both the Wheaton Invitational and the 47th Mt. SAC Relays. The squad participating in the Wheaton Invitational will compete on April 16th in
