Blue Demons Post Four Top Finishes

CHICAGO – The three-day Chicagoland Championships in Naperville, Illinois, proved just long enough for the Blue Demon men’s track and field squad to take home a fifth place finish overall, as well as four first place finishes.
The meet, hosted by
Gavin Kennedy was perfect at the Chicagoland Championships, winning both of his events. Kennedy sped through the 800 meter run in 1:54.31 and rounded the 1500 meter run in only 3:51.30.
Both Donnie Warner and Anthony Becknek also grabbed top spots as Warner championed the grueling 10,000 meter run and Becknek dominated the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Warner knocked out the 10,000 meters in 32:03.22 and Becknek covered the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:20.72, nearly five seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
The Blue Demon 4x400 meter relay team notched a second place finish. The group of Justin Williams, Jeff Perkins, Dan Branca, and Rich Fugiel clocked a time of 3:21.79.
Jamal Cornelious and Donnie Warner recorded third place finishes for DePaul as well. Cornelious posted a time of 10.7 in the 100 meter dash. In the 5000 meter run, Warner made the rounds in 15:15.88.
Next up for the Blue Demons are both the Wheaton Invitational and the 47th Mt. SAC Relays. The squad participating in the Wheaton Invitational will compete on April 16th in
