Following an individual title in the 10,000 meter run on Thursday, Marlene Key gave another impressive performance in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a fifth place finish on Friday. Key’s season best time of 10:54.13 was only two seconds away from the NCAA Championships qualification time of 10:52.10.
Day Two wrapped up the women’s heptathlon, as Lindsey Deason gave a strong showing by scoring 4253 total points. This mark put Deason in 10th place among C-USA competitors.
Jamie Holifield also notched a 10th place spot, making a career best launch of 40.22m (131’11”) in the women’s discus throw.
Erika Lockhart, Keri Gavin, and Jeana LeRoy participated in the event as well, falling into 14th, 15th, and 16th places, respectively. Lockhart tossed the discus 36.73m (120’06”), Gavin went for 36.34m (119’03”), and LeRoy hurled a 35.45m (1116’04”) throw.
Also in the field, Kayla Burks topped a height of 1.60m (5’3.00”) in the high jump to grab the 11th spot of the competition.
The meet concludes on Saturday. Field events scheduled for Saturday are the women's triple jump and shot put competitions. Saturday's running events are finals in the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter, 800-meter and 1,500-meter races. The other final races include the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdle races, along with the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay races.
