Softball Drops Two to Louisville

DePaul sophomore center fielder Linda Secka and freshman Marcy Wilus were each credited with hits. Secka sent a double to left center in the second frame and Wilus singled in the third.
The Cardinals added another run in the sixth on Sara Bausher’s double to right center. Bausher tried to advance to third but a strong throw by Secka halted Bausher in her tracks and she was caught by third baseman Jenny Doezie for the out.
DePaul starter Megan Huitink (16-10) recorded the loss, giving up eight Cardinal hits while striking out six batters. Leslie Scott threw the final inning for the Blue Demons.
The Blue Demon fielding woes continued in the second inning, allowing
Jenny Doezie and Sheaks led off the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back hits to the left side. Sheaks’ second double of the day plated the Blue Demons first run. Three batters later, Sheaks crossed the plate on a Dana Kenney’s single to left field.
DePaul lost the second game 10-2.
Catherine Bishop recorded the win for the Cardinals striking out eight DePaul batter, but gave up six Blue Demon hits.
DePaul sophomore starter Tracie Adix (21-6) recorded the loss. The sophomore threw the first two innings before Scott entered the game to throw the final five innings.
