DePaul Finishes Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa- A select squad from the track and field team competed against some of the nation’s best programs at the Drake Relays this weekend. Tammy Burris met the BIG EAST qualifying standard in the hammer throw for the fifth time this season while the men’s 4x400m relay team set a season best time at Drake Stadium.
The 4x400m squad of Donnie Smith, Richard Fugiel, Patrick Smith, and Gabe Harris notched a time of 3:16.26. The performance exceeded their previous season best time of 3:19.90, which was set at the SIU Spring Classic. Baylor’s squad took first with a time of 3:07.28.
Burris threw the hammer 45.71m to pass the qualifying standard of 42.68m. She placed 25th overall in the event while Jenny Dahlgreen of
The men’s 4x200m relay team of Jamal Cornelious, Donnie Smith, Patrick Smith, and Gabe Harris placed eighth of 14 squads with a time of 1:26.87. The race marked the first time a DePaul squad has run the men’s 4x200m this season.
In the women’s 1600m sprint medley relay, DePaul’s squad of Allyson Petersen, Mary Hodges, Kyra Coffey, and Stephanie Williams notched a time of 4:06.47 to take 15th out of 23 teams.
