The women’s team took second place with a 117.50 points behind
Burris’ school record throw covered 53.08m and surpassed teammate Jamie Holifield’s 2005 record of 50.76m. Holifield took second in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.94m.
Holifield won the discus crown clearing 44.01m. She also earned third place in the shot put with a throw of 12.63m.
In addition to success in throwing events, the Blue Demon women posted solid performances on the track. Carrie Moffett won the 5,000m with a time of 18:14.61 and took third place in the 10,000m with a time of 37:32.55.
Keeping their winning streak alive, the women’s 4x100m relay team of Mary Hodges, Kyra Coffey, Jessica Rodriguez and Stephanie Williams took first place with a time of 48.31. Williams also won the women’s 200m dash, crossing the finish 25.78
Lindsey Deason took second in the women’s heptathlon, with 4228 points.
Two men were crowned individual champions during the three day men's meet. Gabe Harris won the 400 meters with a time of 48.54 and Erik Felt took first place in the 400m hurdles (54.12). Felt also took second place in the men’s 110m hurdles with a time of 15.38.
In distance events, Anthony Becknek placed third in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 9:29.90.
