DePaul Drops BIG EAST Match Against Georgetown

CHICAGO The visiting Georgetown Hoyas scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute to defeat the DePaul women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon. DePaul closes the home portion of the schedule next weekend against Connecticut and Providence.
After a scoreless first half, Karen Waskewich tallied the only goal of the afternoon midway through the second period. Sara Jordan picked up the assist as she crossed a low liner from the right side to Waskewich in front of the DePaul net. Waskewich one-timed the pass to the upper left corner at 62:49 for the eventual game-winner. It was her first goal of the season.
Kelsey Hoinkes finished the afternoon with five saves in goal for DePaul (4-10-1, 1-6-0 BIG EAST) while Jackie Des Jardin totaled one save for the Hoyas. Georgetown (10-4-0, 3-3-0 BIG EAST) tallied 17 shots and seven corner kicks and Shannon Williams took three of DePaul's four shots on the afternoon.
The Blue Demons host Connecticut and Georgetown next weekend to close the home regular season schedule. The Huskies come to Wish Field on Friday afternoon followed by the Friars for a Sunday afternoon game.
Match Notes: DePaul has played in six straight games decided by one goal... Georgetown now leads the series, 2-1-0.
