DePaul Drops Season Finale

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. A goal in the 18th minute led Seton Hall over DePaul in the season finale for the Blue Demons. The Blue Demons took 14 shots in the match, including 11 in the second half, but were unable to find the net. DePaul finishes the 2007 season with a 5-13-1 overall and 2-9-0 mark in the BIG EAST.
Kaitlyn Rodgers scored the game’s only goal in the 18th minute as she took a pass from Alli Donofrio on the left side. Rodgers’ attempt beat DePaul keeper Kelsey Hoinkes to the left corner at 17:49 for the eventual game-winning goal.
After being outshot, 13-3, in the first half, DePaul turned up the pressure in the second period with 11 attempts. Seton Hall’s Amanda Becker made four saves on the afternoon while Hoinkes finished the match with seven stops. Seton Hall (8-8-2, 4-6-1 BIG EAST) totaled 23 shots in the game.
Match Notes: Kelsey Hoinkes notched her fifth game of the season with at least seven saves... Sunday was the first meeting between the two programs that didn’t result in a tie... the previous two meetings were draws.
