Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Southern Illinois

Friday’s competition features the men’s and women’s hammer throw. Jamie Holifield enters the women’s hammer throw after setting a DePaul record in 2006 with a mark of 55.49m. She is joined by Tammy Burris and Virginia MacFabe. Curtis Hoag and Brad Millar represent the Blue Demons in the men’s hammer throw.

The Blue Demon throwers return on Saturday at 11 a.m. for the women’s discus. Burris, Holifield and MacFabe join Ebonie Cobb in the event. Holifield delivered DePaul’s best throw of the 2006 outdoor season with a mark of 44.01m.
Erica Scott and Kyra Coffey enter the women’s 400m dash at 1:55 p.m. Coffey posted DePaul’s top three 400m times during the 2006 outdoor season, including a personal best mark of 57.92. The men’s 400m dash follows immediately with Kriss Arnold, Richard Fugiel, Gabe Harris, Z Stein, Gabriel Vargas and Gilbert Lifton racing for the Blue Demons. Harris recorded a team-best 400m time of 48.33 during the 2006 outdoor campaign.
The meet concludes with the women’s and men’s 4x400m relays. Allyson Petersen, LaShunta Sanders, Coffey and Scott pass the baton in the women’s race at 6:20 p.m. The men’s race follows at 6:35 p.m. when Harris, Fugiel, Lifton and Vargas form DePaul’s top-seeded team.
The Blue Demons also compete in the men’s and women’s shot put, men’s and women’s triple jump, men’s and women’s 4x100m relay, men’s and women’s 100m dash, men’s and women’s 200m dash, men’s and women’s 800m run, men’s and women’s 400m hurdles, men’s long jump, men’s discus, men’s javelin, men’s 3,000m steeplechase and women’s 5,000m run.
DePaul joins a field of competition that includes BIG EAST rival Marquette in addition to squads from Bradley, Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Western Illinois,
