Track and Field Continues Season at Purdue

Tammy Burris, Jamie Holifield and Virginia MacFabe represent DePaul in the women’s hammer throw. All three Blue Demons boast multiple BIG EAST Championship qualifying hammer marks this season and Holifield carries a team best 44.20m throw. The trio is followed by Curtis Hoag, Ian Ianakov and Brad Millar in the men’s hammer throw. Last week’s Elmhurst Invitational saw Millar post an NCAA Regional qualifying throw of 57.49m.
Ebonie Cobb joins Burris and Holifield at 10 a.m. in the women’s shot put. Burris owns a DePaul record throw of 13.46m – one of her four BIG EAST qualifying shot put marks on the season.
Track events open at 11 a.m. with the women’s 4x100m relay. Mary Hodges, Kyra Coffey, LaShunta Sanders and Ivy Moffett pass the baton for DePaul.
Anthony Becknek enters the men’s 3,000m steeplechase at 11:30 a.m. and Claire Duck follows at 11:40 p.m. in the women’s 1,500m run. Becknek holds three BIG EAST qualifying 3,000m steeplechase performances, while Duck boasts three qualifying times in the 1,500m race.
Hoag, Ianakov and Millar take on the men’s javelin throw at noon. Last week’s Illinois Invitational saw Millar improve his own DePaul javelin record to 58.96m. At the same time, Kaaydah Nangle races in the women’s 100m hurdles. The Blue Demon freshman carries two BIG EAST qualifying performances and a season-best time of 14.62.
Field events wrap up at 1 p.m. as Cynthia Edwards and Joe Strawder compete in the women’s and men’s triple jump. Both Blue Demons already hold BIG EAST qualifying jumps as Edwards boasts a season-best mark of 11.62m and Strawder carries a season-best distance of 13.86m.
The meet concludes at 2:30 p.m. with the women’s and men’s 4x400m relays.
The Blue Demons also enter the women’s and men’s 100m dash, women’s and men’s 200m dash, women’s and men’s 400m dash, women’s and men’s 800m run, women’s and men’s long jump, women’s and men’s discus, men’s 110m hurdles, men’s 400m hurdles, men’s shot put, women’s 5,000m run and women’s javelin.
