Burris and Holifield Finish NCAA Mideast Regional Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. -Â Tammy Burris and Jamie Holifield competed in the women's hammer throw on Saturday at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships. Burris placed 16th and Holifield tied for 23rd at the University of Missouri's Audrey J. Walton Stadium.
Burris'Â mark of 54.90m came in her first of three attempts. It stands as her third-best performance of the season and third distance farther than 54.50m. Holifield notched a 51.23m throw to tie Stephanie Gilbert of McNeese State. The 2006 Mideast Regional saw Holifield post a mark of 51.05m to finish 22nd.
Brittany Riley of Southern Illinois won the event for the second consecutive year with a 72.33m throw, breaking her own Mideast Regional Championship record of 63.77m as well as the stadium record of 67.96m.
The event concludes DePaul's 2007 outdoor season.
