Complete List of NFCA All-Americans
OKLAHOMA CITY -- DePaul pitchers Tracie Adix and Becca Heteniak were named National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American it was announced today.
Adix a right-handed pitcher from Edmonds, Washington (Edmonds-Woodway HS) earned second-team honors and begins the Women's College World Series with the fourth best ERA (0.74) in the nation. The senior brings a 21-2 record to the WCWS and did not give up a run in 21.0 NCAA Championship innings this year. Adix has thrown 180.1 inning this season - scattering 95 hits while striking out 160 and walking just 23 batters. Earlier this season, Adix was named the BIG EAST Conference Pitcher of the Year after recording a perfect 10-0 record in league play.
Heteniak becomes the school's fifth freshman to earn All-American honors. The freshman from Northridge California (Royal HS) earned third team honors as a pitcher/utility player. Heteniak (20-6) boasts a 1.23 ERA and has struck out 174 batters in 153.1 innings. At the plate, the freshman has a .240 average with four home runs and 22 RBI. Heteniak was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year earlier this season after holding conference opponents to a .108 average.
Adix and Heteniak become DePaul's 20th and 21st softball All-Americans.
The Blue Demons and Washington face-off in game one of the Women's College World Series on Thursday at Noon. The game will be broadcast on ESPN with Beth Mowins and Jessica Mendoza handling the announcing duties.
