Track and Field Inks Melissa Fraser

CHICAGO DePaul track and field coach Pat Savage announced the signing of Melissa Fraser to a National Letter of Intent. Fraser comes from Erin District High SchoolHalton Hills, Ontario to join the Blue Demons’ throwing corps during the 2007-08 seasons. in
Fraser won the 2007 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association javelin throw title in June with a mark of 45.17m. She was named the Erin District High 2005 Female Athlete of the Year and carries a personal-best javelin throw of 45.58m.
“Melissa is a great young talent with tremendous potential. Throwing coach Brandon Murer is looking for her to make an immediate impact in the BIG EAST Conference.In addition to the javelin, we expect her to join our line of hammer throwers while developing her skills in the discus and shot put,” Savage said.
Fraser joins fellow National Letter of Intent signees Stephanie Hughes, Griffin Lawler, Mary Cate Quiett, Mike Fry, Shannon Lane and Jim Theologes in the track and field freshman class of 2007-08. Also accepting admissions to DePaul and joining the Blue Demons are newcomers Dana Augustine, Bridget O’Neill, Catherine Rodgers, Jamil Chammas, Mo Drame, Thomas Kent, Ryan Moore, Kevin Persaud, Rajiv Nathan, Aurthur Sonneland and Nicholas Vassil.
The 2007-08 track and field seasons mark the Blue Demons’ third year as a member of the BIG EAST Conference.
