Blue Demons Fall to Ramblers

CHICAGO – With just five shots in the 90 minutes on Wednesday night, the DePaul women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers. The loss was the first of the season for the Blue Demons after opening the 2007 schedule with a pair of victories.
Loyola (1-2-0) scored an early goal and a late goal to secure the 2-0 victory as they outshot the Blue Demons, 14-5. Sarah McPartlan scored on a 12-yarder off an assist from Cynthia Morote-Ariza at 8:16 for the eventual game-winner.
The score remained at 1-0 until the Ramblers found the net for the second time with just over two minutes left in regulation. Morote-Ariza notched her second assist of the evening on the insurance goal by Jackie Vera at 87:57.
Chelsea Lindeman took two of DePaul's five shots forcing Loyola goalkeepers Lauren Sommer and Colleen Dougherty to make one save each. DePaul's Brittni Lally finished the match with five saves.
DePaul (2-1-0) opens the home portion of the schedule on Friday afternoon against the Drake Bulldogs. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and the match is the first half of a DePaul soccer doubleheader at Wish Field. The men's team hosts UW-Green Bay at 4 p.m. to conclude the twinbill.
Match Notes: Loyola now leads the series, 6-1-1... the Ramblers have claimed a victory in each of the last four meetings.
