Blue Demons Drop Road Match

STORRS, Conn. Host Connecticut scored three goals in the first half and recorded a 3-0 win over DePaul in BIG EAST play on Friday. The Blue Demons travel to Providence for the final road game of the season before two games at Wish Field next weekend.
Connecticut (5-7-4, 3-2-3 BIG EAST) got on the board quickly as Elise Fugowski scored just 3:23 into the match. Kacey Richards started the play on the right side and fed Melissa Busque in the middle. Busque fed Fugowski and she scored for the early Huskie lead.
The Huskies added their second goal in the 36th minute and the third scored just before halftime. Erin Clark scored off an assist from Cory Bildstein at 35:37 and Katie Radchuck rounded out the scoring off assists from Bildstein and Fugowski.
DePaul (2-14-0, 0-8-0 BIG EAST) took 11 shots in the match with four on goal forcing Connecticut’s Stephanie Labbe into four saves. Kelsey Hoinkes totaled nine saves as the Huskies totaled 23 shots overall and 12 on goal.
The Blue Demons travel to Providence for a conference game on Sunday. Kickoff at Glay Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
Game Notes: DePaul started nine players that are either freshmen or sophomores... Connecticut has won all four meetings between the two programs.
