| Hey all, It’s been awhile since I’ve written, so there’s a lot of catching up to do. As expected, a lot has happened over these past couple of months. The long timeline of events include finishing up the autumn quarter, enjoying Thanksgiving with my family and friends, going on some fun-filled trips, and getting ready for the Christmas season. My second to last fall quarter came and went literally in the blink of an eye. I say second to last fall quarter because I will be coming back next fall to finalize my degree in marketing. Halloween this year was a great time, and it’s always exciting to see what everyone dresses up as. Growing up, I never thought this time in my life would ever arrive because everything seemed to be moving at the speed of a snail. Now I feel as if the days are quickly turning into weeks, months, and so on, wishing that I could push the slow motion button. During this fall quarter, the team and I worked extremely hard day-in and day-out to become better softball players. Along with working on our softball skills, everyone did tremendously well in the classroom. Besides our goals for the upcoming season, it is always one of our goals to excel in our studies. Thanksgiving was wonderful this year, as it always is. I hope that all of you had a great Thanksgiving as well! I was able to visit with some of my family members who I haven’t been able to see for a year or so. It was really great catching up with everyone and seeing everyone all grown up. Our family hosted the members of our extended family this year for the holiday, and my mom did a wonderful job of preparing and serving the most delicious food ever! My mouth is still watering. I am so grateful for the all the hard work my mom put forth this holiday; I don’t know how she does all that she does. A few days after Thanksgiving, I celebrated my 22nd birthday with my family, along with my twin sister, Ashley. In case you didn’t catch on, it was Ashley’s birthday too. Heehee. We all went to dinner to celebrate our birthday, and it was a great time had by all. We were also treated to the first snowfall of the year later that night, which is always fun to see. Speaking of birthdays, I would like to say Happy Birthday to Kaitlyn Bailey, one of our managers, whose birthday was on December 7th and Lindsey Dean, one of our pitchers, whose birthday was on December 8th. Soon after my birthday, my mom, dad and I took a trip out to Las Vegas. The main purpose of this trip was to participate in the half-marathon. My mom and I walked and jogged the 13.1 mile course, while my dad ran the entire thing. I am really proud of everyone for doing such an amazing job. With this being my first half-marathon, it’s very gratifying and quite the accomplishment when you finally finish. Along with doing the half-marathon, we also had a great time enjoying all of the wonderful dining and sight-seeing that Las Vegas has to offer. My family and I will soon be traveling down to Charleston, SC to attend my cousin’s wedding on December 20th. I hear Charleston is absolutely beautiful, and I cannot wait for the wedding and to experience all of the great things Charleston has to offer. It is always a fun and memorable time when my family, along with our extended family, gets together, so the wedding will be a blast. From South Carolina, my family and I will be driving to Anna Maria Island in Florida, where we will spend the Christmas holiday. For me, there is nothing more enjoyable than laying out on the beach on Christmas day! I also want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas as well. After Christmas, it is back to Forsyth, to enjoy New Years. I will also be spending this time with my family and family friends. This is also expected to be an enjoyable occasion considering that I will be spending New Year’s Eve with my family and friends that are a blast to be around. And now it’s time for the serious event, packing to go back to school. I never know how much stuff I have until it’s time to pack it all up. It’s always a challenge to make sure that everything fits in the car. Wish me luck! Heehee. I have such a great time over the break; it is hard for me to believe that it’s already over. Although I am sad to leave my family and friends back home, I am extremely excited to get back and see all of my teammates. As soon as we get back from break, we begin training as a team again for this rapidly approaching season. I am so excited for this season to start because it will be a great one! Make sure to check out our schedule that is posted on our website: pick a date, or multiple dates, to come out and see us play because it is going to be a great and memorable season! And by the way, make sure you say hi. Before signing off, I would like to say congratulations to Eug (Coach Lenti) for being inducted into the NFCA Hall of Fame. For many of you that didn’t know about this accomplishment, you can read the article on our website. Eug is very deserving of this distinguished award, and along with my teammates, I look forward to getting him to his 1000th career win. Thank you all for reading my blog and I would like to wish all of you a fun-filled and safe Holiday Season! Until next time... Go Blue Demons!!! |
