Men's Track and Field Complete Chicagoland Championships

CHICAGO Select members of the DePaul men’s track and field squad remained in Chicago to compete in the Chicagoland Championships hosted by the University of Chicago this weekend. The team finished in 13th place with 18 points, while North Central College took home to title with 175.50 points.
Matthew Graham earned his second win of the outdoor season in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:40.69. Gabe Vargas was the Blue Demons’ other top-performer, placing sixth in the 200m with a time of 22.55.
James Waller posted season-best mark in the discus, hitting a distance of 40.52m to finish in 10th place. Rounding out the field events was Chris Johnston, who placed ninth in the pole vault with a height of 3.95m.
Z Stein, Matthew Holland, and Jamil Chammas all placed in the top-20 in the 400m, posting times of 51.53, 52.15, and 52.48, respectively. All three, along with Rob Morgan, placed fourth overall in the 4x400m relay behind a time of 3:28.77.
Morgan was the top DePaul finisher in the 1,500m, with a 16th place time of 4:10.07. Dennis Balliga and Chris Gallardo also finished in the top half of the field, with times of 4:16.71 and 4:21.73, repectively.
The Blue Demons return to action on April 17-18, when they travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. for the Eastern Michigan Twilight.
