Blue Demons Close Action at NCAA Championship West Prelims

AUSTIN, Texas - The DePaul men's and women's track and field team ended its run on the road to the NCAA Championships today in the preliminary rounds hosted by the University of Texas. A program-best three Blue Demons will continue on to the finals in Eugene, Ore. on June 9-12.
Tim Nedow opened the day in the discus competition. He logged a throw of 48.51m to place 35th overall. On the opening day of the West Prelims, Nedow qualified for the NCAA Championships following an eighth-place showing in the shot put.
In the triple jump, senior Joe Strawder, a four-time NCAA postseason qualifier, measured a leap of 15.09m to place 29th overall. He concludes his four-year campaign with DePaul records in both the indoor and outdoor triple jump.
Melissa Fraser closed her junior season with a 49.35m throw in the hammer. Earlier this season, Fraser scored points at the BIG EAST Conference Championship in both the javelin and the hammer throw.
Brad Millar, Alanna Kovacs, and Nedow represent the Blue Demons in the final event of the season - the NCAA Championships. Action takes place on June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
