Saturday Results - Updated Singles Brackets
NORMAN, Okla. - The DePaul women's tennis team had a strong showing on day-two of the Sooner Invitational at the Headington Family Tennis Center on Saturday. Led by perfect days from junior Cali Gustafson and newcomer Christiana Raymond, the Blue Demons picked up 10 singles victories.
Playing in the C-flight, Raymond topped UALR's Yana Kakovkina 6-4, 6-1 before dominating Oklahoma's Peta Maree Lancaster 6-0, 6-3 for her first two collegiate singles victories. Gustafson mirrored Raymond's efforts as she battled Oklahoma State's Allison Burkhartt to a 6-1, 7-5 win before overwhelming Nathalia Garay from UALR 6-1, 6-0.
Selma Salkovic, Gia McKnight, Kelsey Lawson, and Samantha Kaneta all went 1-1 on the day to round out play for DePaul.
The Blue Demons play out the singles and doubles brackets on Sunday. DePaul's No. 31 pair of Salkovic and McKnight is slated to battle No. 47 Marta Lesniak and Heather Steinbauer from SMU in the semifinals of the A-flight while Gustafson is scheduled to play in the finals of the D-singles consolation bracket against Oklahoma State's Leyla Simmons.
