
#35 DePaul Tops Eastern Michigan

CHICAGO - The #35 DePaul women's tennis team started its doubleheader dual with a 5-2 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday at the Lakeshore Athletic Club. The match was the first of two for the Blue Demons on Saturday.
DePaul began the dual by winning all three doubles matches. Playing in the top spot, Gia McKnight and Selma Salkovic overtook Miriam Westerink and Celine Donnet 8-3, before the Blue Demon pair Kelsey Lawson and Katarina Milinkovic defeated Xu Chang and Mariya Toncheva, 8-4 to clinch the doubles point.
The Blue Demons continued to play well in singles as Lawson, Milinkovic and McKnight each quickly wrapped up their matches for DePaul's first win of the young season.
Lawson was the first off the courts. The freshman overpowered Celine Donnet 6-1, 6-0 on the fifth court and Milinkovic followed with a dominating 6-1, 6-3 win over Miriam Westerink in top spot.
Playing in the fourth position, Raymond clinched DePaul's win with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Marcela Rivero. The win was Raymond's 12th of the season.
The Blue Demons close out their doubleheader against Western Illinois later in the evening.
